Games have always been an integral part of human life. Games which were once played for entertainment have taken the form of sports today. When computer was invented, no one could even imagine that such a huge machine will be reduced in size to such an extent that it can be easily kept on one’s lap; well that is what laptops are for. If people could not imagine that computers will become smaller in size, then who on earth would have imagined that games can be played on computers.
This is what science does, changes the way the world is perceived. Times have changed since the first computer game was developed in the 1960s. Since then, there has been marvelous change in games development technology and not only has the development technology improved, the way games are played and the experience that a gamer gets has improved to a great extent.
Presently the gaming industry has gained momentum and the pace at which games are developed has increased. There are various categories of games to choose from. Some categories are Adventure, Arcade, Board, Hidden Object, Kids, Puzzle, Simulation and Strategy. Depending upon ones likes and dislikes, the game can be chosen and played. The games we play show our identity. A person who likes adventure will choose to play games like Awakening: The Dreamless castle or Nightmare Adventures: The Witch’s Prison. Similarly a person courageous by nature will choose to play Adventure games. Well this doesn’t mean that kids have no games to play, kids too have superb games to play like Supercow, Bookworm Deluxe and many more. Games take us to a new level of experience, games have the ability to change the way a person thinks, walks and talks. It has the ability but it doesn’t mean that it WILL change the personality of every gamer. This is a controversial topic so it’s better that we leave it to researchers and scientists.
